The Best Beaches in Corfu

Greece, Europe

written by: Steph Kloeckener

Corfu is undeniably one of the best Greek Islands and it is also home to many amazing beaches. These 10 are the best beaches in Corfu.

If you’re looking for some of the best beaches in Europe, then Corfu is the island you are looking for. This beautiful Greek island offers plenty of stunning beaches. Whether you want to take go for a swim in the ocean, relax at the beach, or simply admire the stunning scenery around you – the beaches in Corfu are the place to visit.

Some of them like Agios Spiridon Beach might remind you of beaches in Thailand, while others like Logas Beach are among the best places to watch the sunset in Corfu.

During my first trip to the island, I was fortunate enough to explore the entire northern half of the island and fell in love with it. It’s an island with enormous natural beauty and somehow, it felt like the beaches I visited only kept getting better.

The beaches on this list were selected based on what it is like to visit them and crowded beaches were only included if they have unique features that make them worth a visit. I intentionally choose not to include some beaches as I do not believe you should have no choice but to pay upwards of 20€ for a sunbed when the beach is nothing special.

The Best Beaches in Corfu

Hopefully, this post will help you decide which beaches in Corfu you have to include in your itinerary while you are planning a trip there. Just keep in mind, that this selection only includes the beaches I liked the most based on the aforementioned criteria, and that there are many more you can check out.

The Best Beaches in Corfu FAQ

Which part of Corfu has the best beaches?

The north side of the island is home to some of the best beaches in Corfu. Hereby, you will find pebble beaches with crystal clear water near Kassiopi and Acharavi at the very northern tip of the island. And of course, there are also amazing beaches in and around Paleokastritsa.

Are there any sandy beaches in Corfu?

There are plenty of sandy beaches in Corfu. The most popular ones are found on the east side of the island and they include Agios Gordios Beach, Agios Spyridon Beach, and Sidari Beach.

1. Agios Spiridon Beach

If you only have the time to visit one beach in Corfu, Agios Spiridon Beach is the one you have to visit. It is a sand beach and a great snorkeling spot, but the real highlight is the view that can make you think you are no longer on a Greek Island.

At this beach, overgrown cliffs seemingly embrace the beach to form Agios Spyridon Bay. Combined with the crystal-clear sky-blue water with greenish hues this beach somewhat resembles those near Krabi.

Aside from sunbathing, snorkeling and swimming, you can also rent a kayak or go on a boat ride. There are several sea caves nearby, and one of them, Nausika’s Cave, is located in the bay itself.

If you are looking for great places to eat, you will find good restaurants on both ends of the beach. Nikos Restaurant and Vrachos Palaiokastritsa are good options.

2. Canal d’Amour Beach

Sidari’s Canal d’Amour Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in Corfu and has its own legend. According to said legend, lovers that swim through the Canal together will stay together forever.

Therefore, it should not surprise, that it is considered one of the most romantic spots on the island. However, you should be careful if you want to do it. The waves in the Canal can be dangerous when the tides are changing or if the sea is rough. It is safe to enter the water if you do not venture too far from the beach.

The beach itself is located between two cliffs that have interesting geological features, and it is possible to walk on them. The cliffs offer you a great view of the ocean and the coastline, so be sure to check it out when you visit this beach in Corfu.

If you want to grab a cocktail or eat something after spending some time at the beach, I recommend D Amour Beach Bar Restaurant. It’s only a short walk away, and right at D Amour Beach.

Please be careful if you want to swim out to the rocks reaching out of the water while the currents change. It is not a good idea to do this if you are not a strong swimmer. I had to help drag a travel buddy of mine out of the water here while keeping her afloat, so, please keep this word of caution in mind.

3. Agios Petros Beach

Agios Petros Beach is in close proximity to Agios Spiridon Beach and a pebble beach. It is smaller than the nearby sandy beach and has a more rugged touch to it. Oftentimes, it is also less crowded.

There is a watersport platform and a roped-off boating area, so you do not have to worry when going for a swim. During the high season, parasols and sunbeds are available for rent.

4. Bataria Beach

Bataria Beach is located in Kassiopi and is a pebble beach that farces the coast of Albania. It is one of the best beaches in Corfu for snorkeling, so be sure to bring your snorkeling gear when you visit it.

You can opt to rent a sunbed and parasol, but can also just spread out a towel on the small pebbles. In order to avoid the bigger crowds, it is best to arrive in the morning.

The water is a wonderful light blue and is crystal-clear, and as you snorkel out, you will spot fish. Keep to the left while snorkeling and snorkel around the rock formation to see the largest amount of marine life this beach has to offer.

5. Logas Beach

This beach is also known as Corfu’s sunset beach, and there is a good reason for it. After all, it is one of the best spots to watch the sunset. As the sun sets, the cliffs that tower over the beach are lit up by the fading sunlight, and it is truly a wondrous sight.

The beach itself is a thin sandy beach, that is best visited during low tide. Otherwise, there might be no dry space where you could spread out your towel. To get there, you have to walk down a ramp and then stairs, but it is well worth it.

If you do not want to walk down the stairs to watch the sunset, you can also do so from the popular 7th Heaven Restaurant at the top of the cliffs.

Tip: Be sure to stay a bit past sunset, as the most intense colors of the sunset can show up after the sun has sunken behind the horizon. I, for one, only get to see the intense pink through the back window of the car.

6. Verderosa Beach

Verderosa beach is a nice small beach without any amenities and is a great spot if you want to escape the more crowded beaches of Paleokastritsa. It is a pebble beach that can only be accessed via a staircase or by having a boat drop you off near the beach.

As there are no amenities aside from some umbrella holders, you will have to bring your own food, drinks, and umbrella if you do not want to lie in the sun. The water itself is clear and the bolders under the surface make this beach an interesting snorkeling spot.

7. ‘Small Wild Beach’, Kassiopi

While it is a small beach without an actual name, this pebble beach in Corfu is one of my favorite beaches. It is located in Kassiopi, and unlike at the other beaches of the town, there are no rental umbrellas or beach chairs.

It is a bit of a hidden gem that is literally just around the corner from Bataria Beach and has a rugged charm. Few tourists know of it, which means there is a good chance you will have this beach in Corfu for yourself. You can sit down and enjoy the view of the coast of Albania in the distance or go for a swim in the crystal-clear water.

In order to get there, you have to walk up the street towards the town center from Batavia Beach. After around 100 meters you will see a small path to your left. From there, you just have to follow it to get to one of the best beaches in Corfu.

8. Acharavi Beach

Acharavi Beach is located in the very North of Corfu and is a rather long beach. It is one of the best beaches in Corfu to visit if you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy a laid-back atmosphere. Some sections of it are pebble covered, while other segments are sandy. The water is crystal-clear and makes you want to go for a swim the second you arrive.

Acharavi Beach Corfu

There are some nice restaurants and bars only a few meters away, so you do not have to bring anything other than swimwear, a towel, flip flops, sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen.

Unless things have changed since my visit, you can relax on one of the sunbeds of Restaurant Navigator for free as long as you order drinks. The cocktails are quite nice, so I would say that it’s a win-win situation.

9. La Grotta Beach

Perched in a small cove, La Grotta Beach is different from other beaches in Corfu. After all, there is no traditional pebble or sand beach. as the ground mostly consists of non-round rocks.

But ultimately that does not matter, as this great spot is all about swimming, jumping off the jumping platform, or using the rope swing. Be sure to bring water shoes to protect your feet as you walk into the water.

There are some sunbeds and if you arrive early enough, you can spread your towel on one of the bigger rocks. There is a jetty where you can rent self-drive motor boats, and of course, grabbing a cocktail at the La Grotta Bar is a must.

This Corfu Beach is a popular stop on the boat tours departing from Agios Spiridon Beach, and that is how I ended up visiting it. I really enjoyed going for a swim there and would visit it again when I return to Corfu.

10. Faliraki Bathing Beach, Corfu Old Town

Faliraki Bathing Beach is the city beach of Corfu Old Town and deserves a spot on this list of the best beaches in Corfu due to its location. Located only a very short walk away from the main attractions of the historic center, it is the perfect place to sunbathe or go for a swim while you are spending a day or two in Corfu Old Town.

Faliraki Bathing Beach Corfu Old Town

It is essentially split into three parts. The first access to the water is an asphalted area where people like to tan. There are staircases leading down into the water.

Then, there is a wooden platform with staircases to the water that belongs to the Imabari Seaside Bar and Restaurant. There are sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as tables.

The food and drinks here are good, and it is quite nice to spend an entire afternoon there on a hot summer day.

If you do not want to order something, you can just walk through the restaurant to reach the natural beach area. There is close to no space where you could spread out a towel, but it is great if you just want to drop off your valuables in a protected area and go for a swim.

Where to stay if you want to explore the best beaches in Corfu?

As the most stunning beaches in Corfu are not all in one location, you will have to move around in order to visit all of them. Hereby, I recommend renting a car, so you do not have to rely on public transport.

Should you want to stay close to at least one of these great Corfu Beaches, I highly recommend staying either in Sidari near Canal D’Amour Beach, in Kassiopi with its small beaches at the northern tip, or in Paleokastritsa.

While you could technically also stay in Corfu Old Town and should do so for at least one night, it is not the ideal place to stay if you want a beach vacation.
